The restoration and rehabilitation project of the building of the Ex MOF can not be released from the physical, historical, cultural, landscape context in which it is located. The open space becomes a living place, the building, charged with a mixed urban program and, once again assumes that role of polarity and urban attractor that it he had undertaken in the past. The insertion of temporary tanks, which receive a low-growing trees, flowers, urban vegetable gardens and trace in part  the imprints of the buildings provided by the S.T.U., redefine the limits of public space. The redefinition project of the external area of appurtenance of the Palazzina solves the accessibility to the latter by means of two operations: the opening of two passages in the existing boundary wall, which provide a direct link between Corso Isonzo and the new area behind the Palazzina, and through the introduction of two external flight steps. The ramps are enclosed by large terraces, conceived as measures to foster the break and create the conditions necessary for social spaces.
The new program includes all those ordinary activities on the first floor of the Urban Center  (workshops, temporary exhibitions, cineclub) able to interact and coexist, if well organized, with training and divulgation activities of the Architects' Association (refresher courses, seminars, meetings). In the neighboring areas to the central hall are placed the Urban Center offices, a room for associations, Toilet facilities (adapted to the regulations in force), a literary café and two rooms dedicated to the co-working.
Inside the Urban Center offices is placed a lift to make accessible all floors, including the basement. On the first floor are distributed the activities of the Architects: the secretary-reception, the support office to the secretariat, the meeting room of the Council and finally the library-reading room. The two terraces on the first floor become an integral part of the redevelopment plan and are closely connetted with the internal activities: the two terraces are designed as a place of meeting, exchange and relax. The turret is finally conceived as a space for temporary small exhibitions and "vertically" exhibitions. To achieve the goal of maximum flexibility, the project includes components of fixed furniture, capable of serving environments allowing an high flexibility. These furniture constitute a support for each served environment, allowing the use of space and easy flexibility. Their shape, basic and discrete, follows the needs of the served space. In the great hall characterised by frescoes of Cattabriga a discrete dark volume accomodates all the supports to configure the space according to the needs. In the same way also the café is served by an object that, coming up alongside the south wall of the room, incorporates in the bar a shelving where to exhibit books and objects. On the first floor, the new partition wall that separates the offices from the hallway, lets filter the light illuminating the way though. This result was obtained by integrating the bookcase that serves the environments of the order to a polycarbonate surface, able to sound-proof the environments. With few interventions on the pre-existence, optimizing the fruition system and inserting fixed furniture with a strong dynamic vocation, the project allows to get extremely flexible environments that enhance the spatiality of the building without changing its essence.
